Since their confrontation at East vs West 15, Devon Larratt does not take off and demands a left arm match against Artyom Morozov. A victory against Morozov would not only allow Larratt to win a fourth belt in the prestigious East vs West league, but also to recover the Legacy Hammer, a trophy to which he is particularly attached.
Devon Larratt: "Artyom Morozov is not the real champion"
For Devon, the situation is clear: Artyom Morozov owes him a match for the left arm world champion title. It is based on Morozov's statements at the East vs West 15 press conference and their somewhat chaotic clash which took place at the end of the event. During this match, Larratt believes he proved that he had a real chance of victory, even weighing 105kg.
But Devon Larratt doesn't stop there. He goes so far as to call Artyom a “paper champion”, insisting that he is not the true left-arm Super Heavyweight champion. According to him, this title rightfully belongs to Vitali Laletin, and recalls that even Denis Cyplenkov had said that he would pass the Legacy Hammer to Laletin. However, as the current East vs West champion is Morozov, it is he who inherited the prestigious Legacy Hammer, without, according to Larratt, really having the legitimacy.
It is clear that Devon is trying to provoke Artyom in the hopes of landing a match that would allow him to win the belt, the Infinity Gauntlet, and the Legacy Hammer, which neither Artyom nor Denis seem to grant a lot of importance. Devon has everything to gain in this confrontation, which is not the case for Artyom Morozov.
Artyom Morozov: “I don’t want to waste my time with Devon”
Artyom Morozov explains that during their clash at East vs West 15, he was only at 40% of his power. According to him, it was not an official match, and he was not going to give his all without a stake. Indeed, we notice a certain lightness in his approach towards Devon, at least at the beginning. However, towards the end of the clash, it's hard to believe that Artyom, with his closed expression, wasn't 100% when he attempted to pin Larratt.
For Morozov, Devon simply doesn't deserve a title match. He even suggests that he prove his worth by first facing opponents like Kamil Jablonski or Alex Kurdecha on the left arm before hoping for a title shot. For Artyom, there is no question of wasting his time with Devon as he prepares to defend his world champion title in a match against Vitali Laletin, scheduled for early 2025 at East vs West 16.
Match or no match?
If a match between Devon Larratt and Artyom Morozov were to take place, it could take place during King of the Table 13, on December 14, the only event before the highly anticipated clash between Artyom and Vitali Laletin. This would leave Artyom with barely a month to prepare, if a deal has already been reached without the public being informed.
On the one hand, Devon Larratt has everything to gain by challenging Morozov; on the other, Artyom risks a lot by accepting a match which could cause him to lose his status and his meeting with Laletin. The question is therefore this: Artyom Morozov will he take the risk of defending his title against Devon, when a high-level duel against Laletin is already on the agenda? It's unlikely.
That said, the enthusiasm around this possible match could push the organizers to seize the opportunity to organize this meeting. The King of the Table 13 card isn't complete yet, and it wouldn't be surprising if Devon was included. The question remains open, and the suspense could soon lift for impatient fans.
