Denis Cyplenkov comes out of silence after a two-week trip to the Republic of Karelia, where he lost a little weight. In a recent interview, he takes stock of his state of health, his comeback, and addresses the controversy surrounding the Legacy Hammer, a hot topic in the arm wrestling community.

A comeback planned for next year for Denis Cyplenkov

Denis is ready to slowly return to training. If everything goes according to plan and he feels fit, he hopes to begin serious preparation after the New Year to participate in a match.

In the interview, he said:

“I really want to come back. The organizers are also interested. I hope that this time my health will hold up. Last time (against Ermes Gasparini), I neglected a health problem, and the preparation was a disaster. But I want to play matches again. We have already spoken about it with the organizers. We probably won't choose a top-level opponent, but a lot of athletes want to face me. »

However, he admits that his return will be gradual:

“As I haven’t been able to train at all for a few months, I won’t be able to get back to my best immediately. I will progress step by step. My left arm, on the other hand... I don't know what's going on. It cracks and it's painful. There is no guarantee that I will ever be able to compete with this arm again. My right arm, thank God, is fine. »

Denis Cyplenkov responds to Devon Larratt on the Legacy Hammer controversy

Denis Cyplenkov has spoken out about the controversy surrounding the Legacy Hammer, a topic that continues to divide the armwrestling community. In his interview, Denis did not mince his words about Devon Larratt, with whom the relationship seems to have deteriorated:

“I want nothing more to do with Devon Larratt and I don’t wish to face him in the future. I don't understand why he continues to provoke me when he has a match against Oleg Petrenko coming up. He could have just sent me ‘Give the hammer to Artyom Morozov’ but apparently that doesn’t sit well with Devon. He's just looking to attract attention and build hype. It's his style. Let him do what he wants. Everyone will have to answer for their actions before God. »

Denis believes that Devon Larratt is making a big deal out of it. He also recalls that the Super Heavyweight Legacy Hammer still belongs to Travis Bagent, while the 225 lbs (102 kg) one is in his possession. However, as he previously stated, passing the Legacy Hammer to Artyom Morozov is no problem. Denis explains that he contacted Artyom Morozov to organize this transition:

« J’ai parlé à Artyom, et nous avons trouvé un accord. Cela dit, transporter le marteau par avion jusqu’à l’East vs West 15 à Istanbul pourrait poser des soucis de sécurité, car c’est un objet creux. Je n’ai pas envie d’avoir de problèmes. Je pourrais donc l’envoyer directement au Kazakhstan, à moins que les organisateurs n’aient une meilleure solution. »

For Denis, his relationship with Devon Larratt now seems closed:

“Now there’s nothing in common between us. »
